Abstract thesis

February 27th, 2006

Still not the last version, I’m waiting for the answer of my thesis coaches. But I’m pretty happy with the content of the abstract. If you have any remarks, tips, corrections, you’re more than welcome to react:

Aggregating the web

research

Information and data have always been one of the most important aspects of the internet. But because of the huge data-overload on the internet it is often difficult to find the correct data. Sites who are able to do that, are generally successful sites (f.e. Google).

With the new evolutions of the WEB (open API’s and web services), the data are not only becoming easy accessible, it also became possible to build new applications on top of the data from other companies.

The purpose of my master thesis is to examine how data, remixed with other data sources, can become more valuable. Every web service or data source added to the internet can make every other service or data source potentially more powerful. That network of data sources creates the opportunity for users to explore, manipulate and connect data.

project

I’m already developing… More about the project later, when it’s ready to be tested !

We’ll present our project for the module experimental media there. It’s not really an ITV specific project, more a cross media game for kids. If you like to know more about it, check out the site. You’re invited …

Viral campagne

February 15th, 2006

As well as last year, I made a small viral campagne for our local chiro party. The jenever quiz got linked on zattevrienden homepage. I’m not sure I should be proud or not :p .

But we got our free publicity so objective achieved !

And yes, I know I’m very lazy when it comes to layout … I used this one already for 3 different projects. Again, thanks to frits for letting me abuse it. I promise, I won’t use it again.

If you want to go to a good old party this Saturday, in Eindhout, Laakdal. Somewhere deep in the “Kempen”. You’re more than welcome, I’ll buy you a drink.

I found Tom Coates his presentation “native to a web of data” the most interesting of the day … You can get it at Tom his blog : Plasticbag.
